Par 3 in the D Poster Design

I recently had the opportunity to create a poster design for Par 3 in the D, an event held in downtown Detroit before the Rocket Classic tournament. I want to give a huge shoutout to Rocket Classic for trusting me with this design. What a phenomenal opportunity, and I'm glad that we could make something dope and memorable.

The Event

Par 3 in the D was a special rooftop golf event featuring six PGA Tour professionals hitting 117-yard shots with a 90-foot drop from the Traver | UBS building to a green on Nick Gilbert Way to kick off the Rocket Classic.

The Concept

For this design, I wanted to show Rickie Fowler, one of the participating golfers, in his classic orange fit, hitting a golf ball between the two buildings and down toward the green. I used a reference image of the buildings, sketched them in an architectural style, and then added Rickie in the foreground to show the massive elevated drop. This was a type of perspective and architectural drawing I had never done before, but it was so much fun to create.

The Final Product!

The final posters were gifted to six young golfers who participated in the event alongside the professionals. Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Keegan Bradley, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley all signed the posters for the kids. How cool is that!
