Figuring it the F out
I’ve always been a huge proponent of learning how to figure things out yourself. When I began this journey, I had absolutely no clue how to design a website, take photographs, get apparel made, make sales, or run a business, but I was determined to figure it all out. From day one, I knew that every challenge was an opportunity to grow my skills and strengthen my creative instincts.
So far, this journey has taught me that the best way to bring your ideas to life is to lean into the challenge, learn what you don’t know, and trust your ability to figure it the F out.
Every hurdle I faced, and overcame, made me and my brand, stronger and more authentic. Everything I put into the process, every design, every photo, every product, is a direct reflection of the work I put into learning how to do it.
I didn’t have a manual. I have curiosity, determination, and a willingness to fail, learn, and try, try, try and try again. I have failed so many times and I keep failing, but I ALWAYS look it as a learning oppurtunity. I ask myself "WHY?" did i fail this time?
I’ve come to realize that you can always continue improving your skill set, and everything you learn now is going to benefit you in the future. Figuring things out on your own is hard, but it’s also soooo incredibly rewarding. Each small victory, each problem solved, builds not just your brand, but also the person you’re becoming along the way.
Being afraid to try or learn something new, or try something different is KILLER and just will hold you back. I have second guessed this so many times, but I am in love with the journey- I always like to say "The journey is greater than the destination."
I am no where NEAR a pro at anything, but continuing to try and improve on things you learn and learn NEW things can set you up to become a pro. All i was before this was a designer. Now I can say im a lot more than that.
Peace
